The Birth of Bradwaltonphoto
Bradwaltonphoto was born from a shared passion between precision engineer Daniel Ashford and World Barista Championship finalist Elena Winters. Daniel, a third-generation engineer, had spent decades perfecting micro-mechanical systems in his Swiss-trained workshop. Elena, having competed on the world stage and consulted for specialty roasters across Europe, understood the profound difference that exceptional equipment makes in coffee artistry.
Their paths crossed at a specialty coffee expo in 2017, where Daniel was demonstrating a prototype espresso machine with revolutionary temperature stability. Elena was immediately captivated by the precision and beauty of his work. A conversation sparked that would change both their lives, as they discovered a shared vision: to create coffee equipment that honours engineering heritage while meeting the exacting standards of modern specialty coffee.
In 2018, they established Bradwaltonphoto in a converted warehouse in Marylebone, London. The space combines Daniel's engineering workshop with Elena's cupping lab, creating a unique environment where form and function are tested in perfect harmony.
